A large custom built-in with radial corners, rounded inset doors, bright touches of color; and featured by Dwell magazine.
This custom built-in was designed in the Fusion360 CAD program and then cut on a CNC router. This allowed for the precise bends of the radial corners, the rounded inset doors, and the special door handle cutouts to be achieved.
The built-in is made of Baltic Birch plywood, ideal for the humid environment of a travel trailer. The cabinet doors and countertop are laminated with a furniture-grade Marmoleum. The result is a delicate balance of soft wood tones and vibrant earthy hues.
The entire piece had to be assembled in the trailer because of the narrow door. Kerf bend glue-ups are exceptionally challenging, especially on-site in the Summer heat. Boiling water was applied to the kerf bend using a sponge to relax the wood fibers and prevent cracking the delicate 8ft. long face frame.
